Gods great beauty!

Reading through Isaiah it is amazing to realize how great and awesome God is! It is so horrible to think about how then His own people constantly chose idols over Him. But the sad reality is that we do the exact same thing today. Our idols are not the same thing like structures made out of wood or that we crafted ourselves and exalt ourselves. Our idols are things that we often do not admit to actually being idols or that we admit we are worshipping more than God. I often realize that I idolize school more than most things. It is not a bad thing but it can distract us from being in great awe of God. I love in Isaiah Isaiah 44:6 “This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God. I just love in Isaiah how The Lord is referred to and how He receives His full credit and honor. But also in this verse how without Him you have nothing. There is no other God there are other gods that we make but they are nothing compared to our mighty and all powerful God. Our hearts are made to worship something. If we aren't whole-heartedly worshipping God than we will by nature worship and direct our attention to other things. God wants our whole and complete heart made in His image. We are sinful people and can so easily get distracted by other things that is why it is important, not to be legalistic, but that we are doing things to serve God but not with a heart to just do it so we can say it is done and that we are right with God but so that our focus is directed at Him and our hearts are full of Him and our mouths are singing songs of praise to Him!! Isaiah is a really powerful book of the bible but really awesome in talking about how there is no other God and just how we make idols and how we hurt God. I often think about what it will be like to see God and I know I will just fall in awe of His glory. But something else really cool to think about is what it would be like to hug Him! That would the most special and awesome hug from the best Father ever!! Isaiah 37-47 does a really awesome job talking about how great God is! Here are some of my favorite verses!

A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (Isaiah 40:3 NIV).
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” (Isaiah 40:8 NIV).

See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor? With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him? (Isaiah 40:10, 13, 18 NIV).

“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:25, 28, 29, 31 NIV).

Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord —with the first of them and with the last—I am he.” (Isaiah 41:4 NIV).
See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing; their images are but wind and confusion. (Isaiah 41:29 NIV).
“I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. (Isaiah 42:8 NIV).
But those who trust in idols, who say to images, ‘You are our gods,’ will be turned back in utter shame. (Isaiah 42:17 NIV).

God is so good and faithful to me! I want to give glory to Him every day and show Him that I love Him!
