For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. (Isaiah 44:3, 4 NIV).
Everyday our greatest joy and passion should be Christ. We should be striving and doing everything we can to be closer to Him and know His heart more but what is also very important is to give Him our hearts and not just go through the motions of trying to know Him. We can't have a real relationship if we aren't letting Him know us and know Him. There is not a daily amount if God to get. There is always more to get. He will never ever run out! He is so amazing and full of good.
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7:37, 38 NIV).
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. (Revelation 22:17 NIV).
It is so crazy to think of all the complaints we can have as humans when Jesus freely gives Himself to anyone and saves us from death and allows us to be with God. It's not saying that heaven is the better choice than hell. It's saying I love God so much and desire Him that I want to live for Him and in Him and be with Him when I die. Not just so that I don't go to hell but because I want to be with God and would hate to sin against Him and hurt Him anymore. Our greatest and deepest needs can only be filled by God. That should be our primary thirst in a day and let everything else follow.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned— (Romans 5:12 NIV).
I want to be striving toward God everyday and be literally thirsty for Him spiritually and physically! He is so amazing!
The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin, traveling from place to place as the Lord commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink. So they quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.” Moses replied, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you put the Lord to the test?” But the people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?” Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.” The Lord answered Moses, “Go out in front of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the Lord saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?” (Exodus 17:1-7 NIV).
God is ready for us. Are we ready to serve Him fully?
